Thompson Construction & Sons is a family-owned construction company based in Ellsworth, Iowa. Bruce Thompson began building homes in the area in 1977 and officially founded the business in 1982. His sons, Jason and Justin, grew up learning the trade and joined the company full-time later on. What began as a small operation has steadily grown into a trusted name in residential and light commercial construction throughout the region.
Bruce also served the Ellsworth Fire Department for 50 years, including 43 as chief — a deep commitment to the community that continues to shape the company today. Thompson Construction remains rooted in Ellsworth, still doing the kind of work it was built on, with the third generation already stepping in to carry that legacy forward.

Our History
Getting Started
Bruce Thompson begins working in construction in and around Ellsworth, taking on residential and remodeling projects. He often worked alongside Rich Hansen, occasionally teaming up to help each other on jobs while also running his own work independently.
Business Established
Bruce officially establishes Thompson Construction in Ellsworth, laying the foundation for a business built on hard work, integrity, and strong ties to the local community.
Jason Joins the Business
After growing up around the job site, Jason Thompson joins full-time in the fall of 1992, continuing the hands-on approach his father started.
Justin Joins the Business
Justin Thompson comes on board in the fall of 2001, rounding out the second generation and strengthening the family’s role in the business.
Third Generation Continues
Now entering its third generation, Thompson Construction & Sons continues to serve Ellsworth and the surrounding area with the same dedication, craftsmanship, and community focus it was built on — with new hands stepping in to carry the legacy forward.
